Driving through Latrobe, it is hard to remember the original RSL building situated on the corner, now transformed into a modern Medical Practice and Pharmacy complex creating a onestop- shop for locals and visitors alike.
The property developers provided specific objectives for the Design and construct project.
The building was to be divided, enabling separate leaseholds for a Pharmacy and Medical Practice. Individual street frontage, as well as internal access, was also required between the businesses. The Medical Centre floor plan was to include consulting, surgical and treatment rooms; central sterilizing and medical distribution areas; waiting room; reception and administration areas; patient and staff bathroom facilities; staff kitchen and outdoor deck area. All rooms required individual heating / cooling, natural light and sound proofing.
The Pharmacy was composed of a layout that enhanced customer convenience. Discrete areas for specified browsing and consulting with pharmacy staff; efficient dispensary and storerooms; consulting rooms; and staff facilities. Considerable attention was required to ensure staff safety and emergency exits from the building.
The original building was totally gutted, substantial structural support was needed along with the inclusion of fire walls for separation. A large extension was constructed on the northern elevation. Extensive deliberation went into all finishes, including colour schemes culminating in a stunning décor. The end result - inviting, modern, user-friendly facilities.
